Smashwords to Team Up With Scribd

I don’t know about anyone else, but as an indie author and self-publisher, this is pretty big news to me. Scribd is a relatively new subscription service, like Netflix, except for ebooks. That means that for a low monthly rate ($8.99 US) a subscriber can read unlimited ebooks on their PC, Tablet, iPad, or phone. As an avid reader, I think that’s a great deal!

As an author, it’s even better. A reader might be more willing to read a relatively unknown author’s work if they don’t have to pay for it. There’s less risk involved. How many times have you passed over a book because you’re not sure you’ll like it? If it’s an author you’ve heard of before, maybe, but who’s this Rick Rossing guy? 😉

I’m told that distribution to Scribd begins in January, so I’ll be looking for my book there! I hope that you will, too.

Watch the skies!
